As you’ve read in several articles already, thanks to DERTOUR Hungária, Világutazó has been to Florida and we’ve checked out the best hotels of the area. Some of them we only visited, but luckily, we could spend a night or two in some of them. The below list is subjective, and we did not give them placings (though at the end of the list you’ll find the one we consider the winner).
The Betsy – South Beach, Miami
The 4-star exclusive boutique hotel built and furnished in colonial style, The Betsy is located at one of the most popular part of Miami Beach, at the very beginning of Ocean Drive, within reach to Collins Avenue. 61 rooms and staterooms furnished with a taste (each with marble bathroom), award-winning steakhouse, swimming pool, Spa treatments and dawn yoga classes at the roof-garden, and wonderful views are awaiting those visiting South Beach. The perfect choice if looking for a calm place for relaxation in central Miami Beach, from where we can hop into bustling nightlife anytime.
La Playa Beach & Golf Resort – Naples
La Playa Beach & Golf Resort is one of the best luxury resorts in Naples, though it has a 4-star classification, service and standards deserve 5 stars. Each of the 189 rooms are big and luxury furnished enough. WIFI service is free on the whole area of the resort complex, 4 heated pools and jacuzzi are available for those not keen on salty water; but for those who prefer a splash in the water of the Mexican Bay, we have good news, as the hotel is located directly on the seashore, and it has a snow-white sandy beach. Of course, golf lovers will have the chance too, as we find an 18-hole court next to the hotel. It’s worth to try the hotel’s BALEEN restaurant, from where we can admire the world-famous sunset of Naples during every dinner.
The Ritz-Carlton – Naples
Luxurious oasis on the shore of the Mexican Bay. 5-star pleasure for every member of the family; that’s what The Ritz-Carlton Naples confesses and assumes. While the goodman plays at the 36-hole golf course, other family members can enjoy the world-standard SPA treatments, or relax on the 3 miles long white sandy beach. They did not forget about children either; playing room, zoo presenting sea fauna, and 2 huge pools serve them among other outdoor sporting facilities. All the 555 hotel rooms are facing the sea, which is a rarity. Those getting hungry can choose from the 7 different restaurants of the hotel, one of them is among Florida’s bests, the exclusive The Grill.
Royal Palm – South Beach, Miami
It’s a historical 4-star hotel located directly on the ocean shore. Built in 1939 in Art Deco style, the 400-room Royal Palm’s speciality is that we find Miami Beach’s biggest number of staterooms in this hotel, 139 altogether. Every room of the hotel is modern and light. To say something about quality, every bedsheet is made of 100% Egyptian cotton. Alongside its two pools and own beach it contains a well-equipped fitness room and an ambient beach bar.
The Ritz-Carlton South Beach – Miami
At 1 Lincoln road, we find the snow-white South Beach luxury hotel of the world-famous hotel chain. Ritz-Carlton residing with 90 hotels around 29 countries takes Miami seriously, as it has 3 more hotels along this one. The Art Deco style South Beach estate was built in 1953, 541 rooms and staterooms can be found in the building, a lot of them with a look on the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel’s restaurant named Bistro One LR offers modern, local seafood, and it’s outstanding. What’s special about the hotel is that there are contemporary artworks with a value of altogether 2 million dollars in the area of the hotel, from Latin-American and European artists.
Bellasera Hotel – Naples
This wonderful resort with a Tuscan ambience can be found in the middle of Naples’ old town, which has a 4-star classification though, but a 5 -star environment awaits guests seeking serenity, and their prices are surprisingly friendly. Each of the 100 staterooms (from studios to 3-bedroom ones) is fully equipped, with a kitchen, bathroom and is roomy and comfortable. The ambient backyard contains fountains, all-year-round heated pool and the restaurant named ZIZI. The Bellasera hotel received “excellent” grade at every resort-ranking page.
Casa Marina Resort Waldorf Astoria – Key West
Waldorf Astoria Casa Marina Resort in Key West operates since 1920, and its name has intertwisted with tradition, quality and elegancy. With its 311 rooms and staterooms, and 400 meters long own beach it’s the best choice if you’re looking for exclusivity and luxurious standards in Key West. The cheapest room costs $300 per night, but if we choose Casa Marina, we don’t choose it for the price; rather for the amazing views, the wonderful garden, great cuisine and the Key West feeling.
Naples Bay Resort – Naples
Do you have a ship around the Mexican Bay? If the answer is yes and you’re looking for accommodation, Naples Bay Resort is made for you. A few minutes distance from the beaches of Naples, looking on the quiet inner ports, Tuscan style luxury resort’s staterooms can be booked for $200 per night. From the “smallest”, 50 square-meter luxury furnished superior rooms to 3-bedroom villa buildings we can choose the most suitable offer. If you’re not coming with a ship, you can rent one for a few days on a discounted price. And for some relaxation, there’s one of the three tropical pools, 28 degrees all year.
Turnberry Isle Resort – Miami
The giant Turnberry Isle Resort is located between Miami and Fort Lauderlade, neighboring the famous Aventura Mall. You can see from the parking lot already, that it’s the resort of the wealthy. Each of the 408 elegantly furnished rooms offered by the hotel has a balcony or a terrace. Having two world-standard 18-hole golf courts designed by Raymond Floyd, and services satisfying all needs, it’s not a coincidence that Travel + Leisure Magazine selected it as the best resort in the world. It’s ideal for families, only the direct seashore is missing. As a compensation, there’s a giant, lagoon-shaped pool. As for food, what could be a better choice than the award-winning Bourbon Steak House led by James Beard.
The Setai – Miami Beach, Miami
No doubt it’s one of the most special luxury hotels of Miami Beach. It turns out from the prices already, as we can’t find a room under $600 per night, not even out of the high season. But in return Zen paradise is awaiting us, and interior decoration is amazing and refined everywhere we look. Behind the Art Deco main building there’s a 40-floor glass palace that’s easy to spot from the beach. By the way, along the hotel’s staterooms of 129 different categories (there are no traditional rooms here), here is Miami’s most expensive – 32 thousand dollars for a night – stateroom, the 1000 square meter luxury penthouse on the 40th floor. The Setai’s aim is not only to be better and more special than the others, but bigger too. Their smallest stateroom is 55 square meters. Top design, top gastronomy: 5 stars. We give them 6.
